Applications are invited for two experimental postdoctoral positions in the group of Prof R E Goldstein FRS to work in the areas of (a) biomechanics of ciliated tissues, and (b) population dynamics of marine microorganisms, supported by the Wellcome Trust and the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation. Successful applicants will join the established and growing effort in biological physics within DAMTP. There are strong connections as well with related fields such as physics, biochemistry, and zoology. Duties include developing and conducting individual and collaborative research objectives, proposals and projects. The role holders must be able to communicate material of a technical nature and be able to build internal and external contacts. The role holders may be asked to assist in the supervision of student projects, the development of student research skills, provide instruction or plan/deliver seminars relating to the research area.

The successful candidates must have a PhD in the physical or biological sciences or related areas. The ideal candidates will have extensive experience in microscopy, micromanipulation, growth of microorganisms, and dynamical systems theory.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 2 years in the first instance.
