Vacancy DetailsArea: Physics & Astronomy Role OverviewApplications are invited for a postdoctoral research position analysing X-ray observations of galaxy clusters with Dr Helen Russell at the University of Nottingham. The successful candidate will play a lead role in the analysis of new XRISM observations of cluster cores that were awarded to PI Russell in Cycles 1 and 2. Built and operated jointly by JAXA and NASA, with participation from ESA, XRISM’s exceptional spectral resolution allows detailed mapping of the dynamics of cluster atmospheres. This position is funded by a 5-year Leverhulme Trust award, “The physics underpinning feedback from supermassive black holes”, and includes generous funding for conference travel and computing equipment. Applicants with experience analysing X-ray observations and research interests in supermassive black hole or galaxy cluster physics are especially encouraged to apply.
