Role Description
DepartmentApplications are invited for a Research Associate for up to 12 months (ideally to start from 01/10/2023) to work within Professor Caroline Dessent's group during her tenure as Head of Department. The successful applicant will provide day-to-day support to Professor Dessent's research group, undertake some undergraduate teaching and carry out a research project in an area to be negotiated. The group works with laser-interfaced mass spectrometry in a range of areas including: photochemistry and photophysics of biological molecules and complexes: analytical method development for identification of small molecules: characterisation of photopharmaceuticals: organic sunscreen photochemistry: environmental degradation of emerging contaminants. There will be an opportunity for exceptional candidates to develop some of their own research ideas and interests, and candidates will be fully supported to develop their independent scientific career.
