Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 18 months in the first instance, to start in the period between 15th of November 2020 and 1st of January 2021.

Applications are invited for a post-doctoral research associate to work within the group of Prof. Silvia Vignolini at the Department of Chemistry. The position will be focused on the study of the optical properties of a large variety of photonic structures ranging from natural/artificial photonic crystals to highly scattering random structures.

Your profile:

  • a PhD degree (or be about to obtain) in the fields of physics optical engineering
  • knowledge and experience in the field background in nanophotonics, light-matter interaction
  • Experience in programming, interface equipment, mastering experimental technique like microscopy, spectroscopy.
  • Candidates with experience in modelling light-matter interaction are strongly favoured: in particular, we encourage applicants with experience in ray tracing optics (Montecarlo) and/or finite element (FE) and finite time-domain (FDTD).

  • ability and experience to work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • an enthusiastic, confident and self-motivated personality and the ability to quickly contribute to the group culture and way of working
