DESCRIPTIONThe Davis Laboratory at the University of California San Francisco has an open position for a research specialist. The Davis laboratory is a multi-disciplinary neuroscience research laboratory at the new Mission Bay Campus at UCSF. For more information see our lab website: www.graemedavislab.com. Ideally, this individual will be highly experienced in patch clamp electrophysiology and the analysis of neuronal excitability and synaptic transmission. Experience with vertebrate neuronal cell culture is essential. Basic familiarity with molecular biology and gene manipulation in mammalian cells is also essential. Basic familiarity with pharmacology is important. A basic understanding of computer programming is considered a plus. A basic understanding of quantitative light microscopy is also considered a plus. The individual will be responsible for conducting research in the Davis laboratory on the fundamental principles governing neuronal excitability and synaptic transmission in the mammalian central nervous system. The individual will be responsible for the experimental design and execution of all technical aspects of each task. Appointees in the Specialist series will be expected to engage in specialized research, professional activities and do not have teaching responsibilities. Specialists are expected to use their professional expertise to make scientific and scholarly contributions, and may participate in University and Public Service.
