The department is responsible for postgraduate education in the subject area Natural Sciences with a focus on chemistry, biophysics, biology and educational science. In addition, the department hosts educational programs in molecular biology, genomics and systems biology, chemistry, organic chemistry and pharmaceutical chemistry, as well as prescription education. The department collaborates with various societal actors such as schools, business and authorities. The Department of Chemistry and Molecular Biology has around 200 employees. We are located in central premises both on Campus Johanneberg and on Campus Medicinareberget in Gothenburg.

We seek a person to contribute to the Chemical Imaging Infrastructure at the University of Gothenburg. The work will involve day to day operations of the Cameca NanoSIMS instrument, running samples for customers, analysing data, interpretation and interfacing with the customers. The position requires experience with chemical analysis and preferably direct experience with the NanoSIMS.

Job assignments

The job assignments mainly include planning, designing and carrying out day to day operations of the Cameca NanoSIMS instrument, running samples for customers, analysing data, interpretation of the data and interfacing with the customers concerning the results and future experiments. The position might also involve work on the infrastructure web site and Linked In as well as other social media, and occasional travel with the Director to interface with customers.


A PhD degree in a field related to Analytical Chemistry or chemical imaging is required with at least two years’ experience after the PhD. Experience in chemical analysis is required. Direct experience using and operating the Cameca NanoSIMS is preferred.


The position is a permanent employment with 6 months probationary employment. It's a fulltime position (100%) placed at the Department of Chemistry and Molecular Biology in Gothenburg. Starting in October 2021.
