At the Institute of Geography and Geology , Department of Economic and Social Geography of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of the University of Greifswald, subject to the granting of funds from 01.01.2020 until 31.12.2022, the position as part-time employed (75%)

The position is located in the WIR! Alliance "Plant³ - Strategies for the high-quality processing of plant-based raw materials in Northern Germany". The innovation alliance is funded by the BMBF and pursues the goal of promoting an innovation-based structural change in eastern Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania on the basis of the bioeconomy. The Alliance comprises over 60 partners from business, science, public administration, politics and society. The University of Greifswald plays a central role with its comprehensive, interdisciplinary research expertise in the bioeconomy. The Institute of Geography and Geology offers a dynamic, cooperative and creative environment.


Tasks:


They are working on the project "Regional Innovation Analysis and Further Development of the Innovation Strategy". The aim of the project is the continuous further development of the content of the innovation strategy of the WIR! Plant³ Alliance on the basis of scientific findings from geographic innovation research. They develop methods for the systemic analysis of regional technology paths, innovation networks and value creation systems in the bioeconomy. They analyze and evaluate the regional innovation system and the regional potentials for innovation and value added, involving science, industry and society. They model development scenarios for the bioeconomy in the region and translate the scientific findings into concrete strategic options for the further development of the innovation strategy and are in close contact with the alliance partners. The findings of the project prepare you scientifically and transfer you for a knowledge-based regional development through the bio-economy to other regions.


Tasks are transferred which are also conducive to one's own qualification (doctorate).


Requirements:


  • completed academic studies (master or diploma) with a major in economic geography or a related economic or social science discipline
  • Content knowledge in geographical innovation research and knowledge-based regional development
  • safe handling of qualitative and quantitative research methods
  • a high degree of independence, efficiency and sense of responsibility as well as high social competence
  • very good knowledge of English
  • Experiences in the cooperation with actors from administration, politics and society as well as foreign experience would be desirable
