Position Description


The Department of Chemistry at the University of Calgary invites applications for a Sessional Instructor to teach the following course during the 2019 Fall session:

CHEMISTRY 203 - General Chemistry: Change and Equilibrium

An introduction to university chemistry from theoretical and practical perspectives, which focuses on an exploration of the fundamental links between kinetics, equilibria and thermodynamics and explores acidity/basicity and redox behaviour using inorganic and organic examples.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in chemistry and a strong, substantial record demonstrating teaching excellence. The appointees will be expected to remain abreast of current developments in science, particularly in Chemistry. Previous experience in lecturing Chemistry 201 or 203 is an important asset. The appointee will have responsibilities for instruction and associated duties for one lecture section and one tutorial section for Chemistry 203.


Sessional positions are offered on a per course basis. The dates for the Fall session are August 26th to December 24th, 2019. The amount of remuneration is calculated according to the Collective Agreement, Schedule B.
