Main tasks:

Administration and maintenance of central computer architecture (Linux server, computer cluster, with Infiniband interconnect, central user management, UPS)

Planning and implementation of system administrative measures, obtaining offers, order processing, documentation

Communication interface to central services of the ZID and the like; Planning and monitoring of the hardware and software area, including software licenses

Organization of administrative activities in the computer field

Support (installation of hardware and software) of single workstations (Linux, Windows, MacOS X)

Conception of relevant IT infrastructure in the working groups

Problem diagnosis of computer systems

Development of transfer / backup strategies and independent implementation (user and research data)

Required qualification:

completed bachelor's degree (eg in physics, computer science, mathematics) or equivalent qualification (eg completed IT training: HTL or Matura plus relevant work experience); Professional experience in development and operation of network topologies; Experience in system administration - especially networked systems; Support in the installation of scientific software (focus on Linux). organizational skills

Independent acquisition of information with the willingness for constant further education - also autodidactic


For this position, a collectively agreed minimum remuneration of € 2,367 / month (14 times) is planned. The fee increases if relevant professional experience is available. In addition, the university offers numerous attractive additional services ( ).
