£30395 to £39609 per annum pro-rata depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.

As such, the Teaching Associate role has been developed to provide an enhanced level of practical teaching in our undergraduate laboratories, problem classes and scientific computing workshops, focusing upon the quality of the learning experience provided to our students. 


We are ideally seeking a post graduate Physicist with a passion for practical science and teaching, who will enjoy forming part of the dedicated teaching team. The role will have responsibility for the preparation and delivery of small group workshops, practicals and computing exercises in accordance with QAA regulations and the University Quality Manual. The role will also be responsible for supervising postgraduate demonstrators. 


Candidates should hold a first degree in Physics and preferably a PhD in Physics or a related discipline, together with proven teaching experience. It is desirable for candidates to have experience of teaching Physics to small and intermediate sized groups, such as seminars, workshops or tutorials. Experience of teaching study skills to university students or A level students is also desirable.


Candidates should have excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills, with an ability to design course materials and to plan and organise the delivery and assessment of taught courses within an agreed quality framework. 


This is part time, 29 hours per week, permanent position.
