The Technical University of Munich (TUM) invites applications for the position of Tenure Track Assistant Professor in » Protein Chemistry« to begin as soon as possible. The position is a W2 fixed-term position (6 years) with tenure track op-tion to a tenured W3 position (Associate Professor).


Scientific environment

The professorship is part of to the TUM Department of Chemistry. Moreover, the professorship will be affiliated with the newly founded Center of functional protein assemblies (CPA). Due to an international faculty and Master courses in English, the departments attracts outstanding students on all levels.



The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. We are looking for an excellent junior scientist with a high potential for developing an internationally recognized research agenda in the field of Protein Chemistry. The research of the successful candidate could include aspects of the regulation of protein conformation and function e. g. the posttranslational modifications of proteins, signal transduction or protein homeostasis.



We are looking for a candidate who has demonstrated initial scientific achievements and the capacity for independent research at the highest international standards. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification as well as pedagogical aptitude, including the ability to teach in English, are also prerequisites. Substantial research experience abroad is expected.
