The working group 'Global Exposomics and Biomonitoring' represents a motivated interdisciplinary team acting in a network of national and international cooperations. We apply a multi-disciplinary approach to better understand the impact of environmental and food-related molecules on human health. Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: §48 VwGr. B1 Grundstufe (praedoc) with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade.


Job Description:


This position in the field of metabolomics/bioanalytical chemistry is dedicated to the development of innovative mass spectrometry-based workflows and data evaluation tools. The developed methods will be applied to address pressing interdisciplinary research questions in areas such as the interactions between environmental/food contaminants and the microbiome or their impact on human health. Besides research, this position includes teaching according to the collective agreement. We expect the successful candidate to sign a doctoral thesis agreement within 12-18 months.



Appropriate training in analytical, biological, computational, or food chemistry, biotechnology, chemical biology or related field (MSc level). A high level of self-motivation, commitment, and work ethics is mandatory. The candidate must be fluent in English and willing to travel and cooperate within the framework of this thesis at a national and international level.

Experience with mass spectrometry or metabolomic technology as well as scientific publishing are beneficial but no prerequisite. Basic programing skills (R, Python, Matlab e.g.) and statistics knowledge would be additional assets. Experience in scientific writing/publication is advantageous.
